Resonance

Residency

Gather Gallery is a contemporary event space and art gallery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, designed as a flexible environment for art, community, and meaningful connection.

In Summer 2026, Eye for Ear was invited to participate as an artist in residence with Gather Gallery, developing immersive audio-visual works in relation to the gallery’s architecture, projection systems, and public programming.

Exhibition

Beginning July 17, 2026, Gather Gallery presents Resonance, a group exhibition exploring resonance as a physical, emotional, and relational phenomenon.

As part of the residency and exhibition, Eye for Ear presents Origin and Sonar, two immersive audio-visual works developed in dialogue with Gather Gallery’s architecture, projection environment, and the exhibition’s theme of resonance.

ORIGIN

Origin reflects on the idea that all matter, space, and time were once compressed into a single point. It wasn’t only objects that moved apart, but space itself that expanded, making every “here” and “now” relative within a constantly unfolding universe. Inspired by NASA/Hubble research that used slime mold simulations to model the flowing structure of dark matter, Origin uses a Physarum simulation made with feedback, seeded masks, and audio-reactive controls to visualize growth, expansion, and connection across cosmic distance.  For Resonance, Eye for Ear adapted their 2D film ORIGIN for the Gather immersive space.

SONAR

Sonar explores the deep ocean, where light disappears and sound becomes the way of sensing the world. The piece draws a parallel between sonar and human expression: we send something outward, then begin to understand where we are through what comes back. Developed in TouchDesigner with cymatic patterns and Voronoi-inspired simulations, Sonar turns vibration, echo, and proximity into shifting visual structures, giving shape to the unseen and revealing connection through darkness.
