SONAR
SONAR is a generative audiovisual work inspired by echolocation: the act of sending a signal outward and locating oneself through what returns. Its audio-reactive visual system draws from Chladni patterns and Voronoi structures, translating vibration, rhythm, and spatial relationships into shifting visual forms.
The work connects this process of signal and response to human expression, exploring the point where an internal impulse becomes an outward action and begins to interact with the surrounding world.
Originally created as a generative animated film, SONAR was later expanded into an immersive installation at Gather Gallery in Brooklyn for Resonance. The installation extended the work beyond the screen, surrounding viewers with its shifting visual structures and bringing sound, image, and physical space into closer relationship.
MINUTE_MAPP
For MINUTE_MAPP, SONAR has been condensed into a one-minute architectural projection, using the building itself as part of the composition. Responding to INTERSECTIONS, the adaptation draws out relationships already present in the work: sound becoming image, vibration becoming form, individual signals joining larger systems, and the inner self meeting the world beyond it.
At the center is the lyric “you can hear yourself in everything, if you just move your tongue to the beat of your heart,” turning expression into the work’s clearest intersection: something felt internally, sent outward, and understood through what returns.
