01. About

Eye for Ear is a group of Brooklyn-based audiovisual artists creating original music, film, light sculpture, and immersive experiences.   Their debut album, QUALIA, traces a 14-song arc from cosmic origin to the edge of time, through moments of connection, erosion, and growth. Using tools ranging from slime mold simulations to dynamic sky software, Eye for Ear extends the music into new dimensions, building visual and sensory worlds around each song.

02. Studio

The work of Eye for Ear is created in a renovated basement woodshop in Williamsburg.  In the studio, LED panels hang on discarded elevator parts from the Woolworth Building and alum crystals grow in a large horse trough next to the vacuum chamber used for resin pours.  Lasers, synths, LED fixtures, raspberry pi boxes, and motors crowd the shelves waiting for their next use.

03. People

Eye for Ear is a creative effort from Brian McGaw (@amanamun), Kirill Shevyakov (@torshev), and Thierry Dussau. The project has taken shape through a shifting network of additional collaborators, each helping sculpt QUALIA into its current form.

04.Practice

Eye for Ear crafts audiovisual experiences using a mix of digital and hardware tools, licensed source material, and shared community knowledge. The project is committed to transparency around process, references, tools, and authorship. Notes and documentation will be published for each work on this site whenever possible.

In keeping with that approach, no AI is used in the music of QUALIA. Eye for Ear does not grant permission for any AI service to train on their work.

The practice extends into sculpture, animation, photography, film, interactive media, and immersive experiences, using art and technology to create moments of connection.
